Richard Branson predicts every car will be electric within 15 years

July 15, 2016

Entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has predicted a major shift to electric vehicles driven by falling costs and improving range.

He told CNN: “Road cars one day will be able to go hundreds of miles without having to recharge their batteries. I truly believe the day is not too far away when everybody drives an electric car.”

In 2015, electric cars accounted for just 0.1% of the total number of cars on the road across the world, but a report by Bloomberg has predicted that global sales of electric cars will hit 41 million, or a third of the market, by 2040 as battery costs fall and ranges increase.
