Renault enters crowded car-sharing market with new brand

July 26, 2016

Renault is taking on brands such as Autolib and Zipcar with a new car sharing service.

Renault Mobility will offer self-service hourly car rental to consumers and companies and give them access to a range of its cars including electric vehicles.

The service has been tested in Paris, which already has a wide array of car sharing services including Drivy, which allows car owners to rent out their vehicles when they aren’t being used.

A 2014 study in Paris found that involvement in car sharing schemes encouraged a reduction in car ownership and reduced mileage.

Renault Mobility will be officially launched at the Paris Motor Show in October.
